A blog about writing and all things story…
Recently I received an e-mail that reminded me of the first time I got that dreaded AARP letter announcing ‘You’re OLD enough to join the group’, which was a few years ago so I’m over the shock and happily using my senior discount. Which, BTW cracked my mother up when we ordered breakfast in a restaurant and I ordered off the senior menu. She nearly choked and said, “Oh my God! I never thought of my children as seniors. I must have gotten older.” Like she just woke from a long dream. “Okay, Rip Van Winkle,” I said, “eat your prunes.”
Anyway….I received and e-mail asking if I was interested in submitting to MIDLIFE COLLAGE. I laughed. Then realized oh yeah, I guess that’s what I’m living, isn’t it. Ha!
Anyway, they have a nice site and are looking for submissions, so if you’re old like me and interested in submitting your shorts, (Keep your underwear on, it’s short-stories they’re looking for) check them out.
Midlife Collage is looking for submissions in their free-entry contests. They run weekly, online writing contests for a cash prize. Perhaps you would be eligible and interested in submitting a short story. Please see your shorts (300-500 words preferable, but up to 1500) to their Submissions page and be sure to read their guidelines and contest rules. Go to their Calendar page and watch the short videos for topic ideas.
Oh, and just to be clear; I order off the senior menu because of the smaller portions, not because I’m old. Just to be clear.
